Shorewalkers mission is to enhance, enjoy and protect the parks, promenades and paths along the waters in and around New York City, Down State New York and North New Jersey. Your participation in any of our activities is your acknowledgment that you are solely responsible for your own assessment of your abilities and your physical fitness to participate in that activity. Walkers must be physically fit and by joining any event you agree to waive all rights and claims for damages against Shorewalkers, it’s officers, directors, hike leaders, employees, event personnel or volunteers.

Shorewalkers does not tolerate inappropriate behavior during its events. If you are subject to or witness any inappropriate behavior during a Shorewalker event, please contact the Shorewalker Meetup Organizers directly and report the behavior. Shorewalkers will investigate any reports of inappropriate behavior and take necessary action.

We encourage and appreciate posting pictures taken during Shorewalkers events. Shorewalkers reserves the right to use the photos in any manner and for any reason, except for commercial purposes, without renumeration or credit.

A Day to Remember - Battery Park to Fort Lee

Complete the first four legs of Cy A Adler’s Battery to Bear Mountain, a series that we hope to continue on July 4th. Leaving from the front of the Staten Island Ferry terminal in Manhattan, (please arrive before 9:30 so we may start on time) at 9:45 a.m., walking along the west side at a brisk pace with numerous brief stops at sites and restrooms along the way, including Battery Park and Greenway, Irish Hunger Memorial, The High Line Elevated Park, Grant’s Tomb, The Little Red Lighthouse. We will walk over the George Washington Bridge and not quit until we reach Starbucks/Seven Eleven in Fort Lee. This will be a one-way hike! There is a bus / jitney that will take us back to Manhattan to a convenient train station. Bring lunch !!! We will stop at along the way for snacks and be at Fairway around 2:15 for lunch. Hike should end around 5 p.m. Heavy rain may modify route. Contact L Irv Reich .[masked][masked] for questions or concerns. Registration desired, not required. No email day of hike. You can expect a large, sociable crowd that you and your feet will not forget. This hike will run jointly with Meetup, Shorewalkers and AMC. It takes a long time to sign in. If you don’t mind coming a bit early, it will be appreciated.

Bronx Shoreline Walk Part 3

Buhre Avenue

Meet at SE corer of Buhre Ave and Westchester Ave. Take the #6 train to Buhre Ave station. Meet at 9:15 for prompt 9:30 start. In this final stage of our Bronx shoreline explorations we explore the East Bronx ending at City Island. Optional late lunch at seafood restaurant. Approximately 15 miles. Bring snacks and water. Brisk, steady, pace. Please no slow walkers. Rain cancels.

Ride the Staten Island Ferry and go to Historic Richmond Town

We will meet at 10:00AM inside the Ferry Terminal at the top the escalator off to the right side. We will take the “Ferry” at 10:30AM (the Ferry leaves on time). From the “Ferry”, we will see the beauty of the New York Harbor. On the Staten Island side, we will take the MTA Staten Island Subway to the “Oakwood Heights Station” and walk about one mile to Richmond Town and return to the “Ferry” by MTA bus. At Richmond Town there will a “Wine and Food Festival”. Bring lunch, water and wear comfortable walking shoes. The Group will return on the 5:30PM “Ferry”. Scenic Fire Island Walk

Sayville LIRR

Let’s take a leisurely scenic walk on Fire Island (about 6 miles) visiting picturesque Cherry Grove, Sunken Forest, Ocean Beach enjoying magic of open beaches and car free island. Please bring water,lunch,Sun Tan Lotion Take the LIRR train leaving 8.43 am Penn Station and arriving Sayville 10.07 am. Leader will meet everyone at Sayville LIRR platform at 10:07 where we take taxi to ferry terminal. We take 10.25 am ferry to Cherry Grove PLEASE. Buy ONEWAY ticket to Cherry Grove as we use a separate ferry line on return. Drivers please do not park at Sayville as we are doing round trip ending in Bayshore. Everyone do not buy LIRR day trip package as we are using seperate ferry lines. Drivers can park at Bayshore Station on Street(free) or in parking lot of station (check regulations on sign) and buy one way ticket to Sayville at machine on west bound platform. Seniors can buy ticket on train without penalty. Take 9.56 train to Sayville. You can leave walk at Ocean Beach or continue to Appalachian Mountain Club house for lemonade,swimming and tour. End time is approximate. Return ferries Ocean Beach 4.05,5.15,6.25 pm for beautiful 30 minute trip or Atlantique 5.40 pm trip 30 minutes. LIRR return trip.
