Pack Groceries at the Sunnyvale Community Services Holiday Center

Details

Sunnyvale Community Services is an independent, nonprofit emergency assistance agency. They are working to prevent homelessness, hunger, and untreated medical problems for low-income families and seniors facing temporary crises. Each month, bags of food are packed for distribution to hundreds of low-income families and seniors.

The Community Holiday Center affords over 1500 families the dignity of selecting a two-week supply of food, new gifts for infants through teens, and a gift for every household (towels, blankets, basic kitchen items). Volunteers move tons of food and supplies, sort food and toys, stock shelves, escort clients, accept and pick up donations, and staff the reception area.

We will be helping out this year at the Community Holiday Center by packing bags of groceries.

WHEN: Our shift is scheduled from 6:20pm-8:30pm. Please arrive on time and plan to stay for the entire shift.

PARKING: There is no volunteer parking in their lot. Please park either on San Gabriel Ave, on Kifer Ct, or across the street in the lot where the driveway is marked “DGW Additional Parking” facing East. It’s also ok to park towards the back of the DGW lot facing West but please do not park in front of the AquaPie Pilates studio or in the spots associated with the MLS building.

Please do not enter through through the front office. Enter the building at the double doors in the parking lot with the Donations & Distributions awning over it.

Please remember to wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes. Comfortable, safe footwear is required: sneakers, work shoes, or boots. High heels, open-toed shoes, or sandals are not allowed. Also, dress in layers as you might work indoors and/or outdoors.

Please do not bring in purses or personal belongings because they do not have a secured storage space.

I look forward to seeing you all there!

NOTE: If you would like to bring a guest/friend, please have them sign up with their own account through Meetup. SVV events are for adults 18 years old and over only.
