To all you Social Fun classical music lovers who aren't also in Nerd Fun:
I run a series of FREE events at the New England Conservatory for Nerd Fun, and want my Social Fun friends to come too! (But please don't double RSVP.)
Tonight, Maestro Hugh Wolff and his graduate student Lio Kuokman will share the podium in a program featuring music from Will Myers, Prokoviev's Romeo and Juliet and Dvorak's Symphony 5.
(Listen to excerpts below; the names in the list link to youtube performances of the works.)
Let's meet up at no later than 7:15pm, so the group can grab a bunch of seats together when the doors open, and then socialize before the concert. We will probably end up sitting in the back of the center section in the main hall, as they usually don't open the balcony for these concerts.
Directions to Jordan Hall:
The hall is located at the corner of Huntington and Gainsborough streets (http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&geocode=&q=jordan+Hall,+Boston+MA&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=59.467068,135.263672&ie=UTF8&ll=42.342781,-71.085577&spn=0.006883,0.020599&z=17), about a block south of the Symphony T stop on the Green Line. It's also close to the Mass Ave station on the Orange line. Look for the building with the YMCA sign on top of it as you walk down Huntington Ave--it's near that building. The main entrance is reached from Gainsborough Street.
This evening's program will include:
Will Myers: Bright Shadows (no audio available) Prokofiev: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3P0m4HmgFw) Romeo & Juliet (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3P0m4HmgFw) selections from Suites 1 & 2 Dvorak: (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hf-d3hjkm0Q) Symphony No. 5 (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hf-d3hjkm0Q)
