South Shore 30's/40's Bowling Social

Details

Join members of Social Fun (SF) and South Shore Hike Bike & Social Club (SSHBSC) as we bowl two strings and socialize with others in their 30's and 40's as we continue to get to know others within our age group! O'Lindy's Lanes is a fun yet laid back venue and is a great place to bowl, play pool and socialize with friends. Join us for a couple of hours on Saturday, December 10th as we socialize and bowl with others in their 30's and 40's in the middle of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season.

O'Lindy's sells snacks and beverages, including alcohol. No outside beverages are allowed due to the liquor license. The cost is $4.75 per person per string (we generally bowl two strings) and the shoe rental is $2.75 per person. For two strings of bowling, the cost will be $9.50 plus a $2.75 fee for a shoe rental for a total cost of $12.25 per person. Please arrive between 11:30 a.m. – 11:45 a.m. as we will start bowling promptly @ 11:45 a.m. We will have 4 to 6 bowlers on each lane; preferably 4 to 5. If anyone wants to socialize but not bowl, the cost will be $3, which will be payable to Angela, the Event Host.

O'Lindy's is located at 170 Quincy Avenue in Quincy, just half a mile northwest of Route 53 and one mile south of the Quincy Center T Station. They have parking lots both in front of their building and directly across the street.

This event is for Meetup members and their friends/guests in their 30's and 40's. This is the follow-up event to Social Fun's 30's/40's lunch kick-off event in November. If you are on the cusp and would like to join us please contact Angela no later than December 6th who will then advise within a couple of emails if it makes sense. This is a great opportunity for us to meet others living and working on the South Shore in their 30's and 40's within the participating Meetup groups listed below:

Website: http://olindysbowling.com/ (http://olindysbowling.com/billiards/)

Meeting Location: Please pay and get your shoes at the front desk and then head to our lanes thereafter. Look for a meetup sign and bowling lane assignment sheet. Ask for "reservation under the name of Angela from Meetup Group."

Host/Organizer: Angela & David (David is the Co-Host for Social Fun; we are still seeking a Co-Host from the South Shore Hike Bike & Social Club!)

Min/Max: Minimum of 10 total people 72 hours prior to the event; maximum of 30 total in both groups. If you are not planning to bowl but want to join us to socialize please note it in the Comments.

Guests: 1 Adult 21+ per member now welcome!

Cash Only Policy: Please bring cash! Paying for our meals in cash allows us to avoid the confusion of having the waitstaff running multiple credit card slips and generally helps to keep things simpler for everyone. The bowling alley does accept credit cards!

Cost/Fees: $12.25 for 2 bowling strings and shoes. You will pre-pay for bowling and shoes upon arrival. [If you are joining us to socialize only please be advised we are looking for $3 and you need to note that you are not bowling in the Event Conversations section &/or in your RSVP Q&A. Otherwise, you could be charged the full cost by the bowling alley.] If you want to make your annual $10 voluntary contribution to Social Fun, Angela will be happy to collect and mail it to Biagio. Biagio requests a $10 donation after attending your 3rd event. (If half the people who attended 3+ events actually made the donation it would be a one-time request. Alas, not so.)

RSVP Deadline: Saturday, December 10th @ 8:30 a.m. ~ Any changes made after this time will be considered a No-Show so please finalize your RSVP by this time. Please note: RSVPs close at the start of the event on the site so no changes can be made after that time. (This RSVP deadline is to ensure we reserve enough lanes to accommodate everyone.)

Inclement Weather Reschedule Date: To Be Determined.

No-Show Policy – Very Important: People who RSVP "Yes" to events are expected to exercise common courtesy and common sense at all times. That means making your best effort to keep any commitments that you make, but if necessary doing your best to notify the Event Organizer or the venue if something comes up after the RSVP deadline (preferably if it's the day of the event). If you find yourself unable to attend an event that you've RSVPed "Yes" to and you cannot either change your RSVP or let the venue know, please contact Angela as soon as possible just to let us know that you're okay and that you're still interested in attending events. By not calling Angela (or any Event Organizer) in this type of situation, it makes it seem as if you're being disrespectful to the group by RSVP'ing "Yes" and not appearing at the event, which would be considered as a "no-show." Please be advised that any Assistant Organizer (AO) or the Group Organizer (GO) can remove a member from Social Fun who has 3 No-Shows in the past 3 months. Additionally, Organizers may disallow members with 2 or more "No Show" marks from attending their events.

Please keep in mind that we are reserving lanes based on the number of people who RSVP "Yes" to attend and if we are missing more than one or two people, it creates a negative and embarrassing experience on everyone else attending as well as the venue itself since we are planning our event based on the number of RSVP's. Furthermore, if there's a Waitlist (WL) involved and you RSVP "Yes" but don't show up, you are literally taking away a spot for someone else. Please do your part by changing your RSVP as soon as possible when you are no longer able to attend .... it only takes 10 seconds on your computer or smartphone!

Parking: Free parking on-site and in their extended lot across the street. If the parking lots are full, please drive north on Quincy Avenue to the next set of traffic lights where you will take a right turn (onto Scammell Street) and then make a left into the big free parking lot where Quincy Credit Union and a gym are located. (Please do not park in the strip mall or Citizens Bank parking lots.)

Directions/Location Overview: O'Lindy's is located about 1/2 mile north of Route 53 in Quincy, about two miles from the Braintree town line, less than 1/2 mile from Kam Man Plaza (where Bradlees used to be over 2 decades ago), and a few doors down from Gennaro's Restaurant.

For those who rely on public transportation, take the Red Line (Braintree train only) to Quincy Center Station and transfer to MBTA Bus Route 225. Get off the bus at either the "Scammel Street at Martensen Street" bus stop or at the "Quincy Avenue at Faxon Park Road" bus stop (this depends on which Bus Route 225 trip you take since it has multiple routing variations). The bus ride is relatively short and should take no more than 8 minutes. From either bus stop, you are a 3-minute walk away from O'Lindy's. Additional note: Commuter Rail trains on the Middleboro/Lakeville and Kingston/Plymouth Lines also serve Quincy Center Station. Get off the train on either line at Quincy Center and follow the same bus directions as stated above.

Please Note: If you are a member of Social Fun or any other group participating, please RSVP "Yes" with one group and "No" with the other group(s). I can give you credit for attending for all groups but only if you RSVP in some way with Social Fun as it's very challenging to find people in that group to add them in when editing attendance.

Thank you and we hope to see you at O'Lindy's Lanes on December 10th!
