Zion - Kolob Arch via Hop Valley Trail Hike

Hop Valley Trailhead

Heading out to Zion over this weekend. Planning on camping the night before fairly close (15min) to the trailhead. We can camp out together (let me know) or just meet up Saturday morning for the hike at the trailhead. The camp spot is undeveloped.

This will not be too difficult of a hike, however it will be about 7 miles in and 7 miles back for a total of 14 miles (little over 1,000ft elevation change). Bring plenty of water (4L at least) and some healthy snacks. This Hop Valley route to the Kolob Arch is suppose to have better scenery than the more popular La Verkin Creek route.

There is also an optional possibility of hiking the Subway on Sunday if anyone wants to stay another night and if there are available permits at the Visitor Center.

I'll be leaving from Santa Ana if anyone would like a carpool. If not, I'll see you there!

Should be an awesome time!

SUP or Kayak Newport Bay

Pirate Coast Paddle Company

Going to kayak and/or SUP (choose your own) for a few hours in the bay again this weekend. You can rent both onsite, bring your own, or rent elsewhere. Rentals onsite are by the hour or the day if you'd like to stay longer.

We'll huddle just left of the rental launch to wait a bit for anyone. We'll head up deeper into the bay from there, less boat traffic that way. Kayakers will want to go all the way in to the end. SUPs are free to turn around whenever needed, as the paddle back will be more difficult than the paddle in due to the breeze. Don't forget the sunscreen!
