What we're about

This group is for anyone who wants to learn to dance Argentine tango. Everyone is welcome, from first-timers to experienced dancers. Join us in the beautiful ballroom of the Berkeley City Club. We host classes on Wednesday evenings followed by a practica. No partner or experience necessary. All genders are encouraged to lead and follow. Vaccination card and mask required. This course is now closed to new students, but you are welcome to join us for the practica--only $10! Drop-in classes begin again on March 2nd.

All genders are welcome to lead or follow. No partner necessary. Bring shoes in which you can pivot/swivel (no rubber soles). Socks work fine too.

8:00-10:00 pm guided practica

Proof of vaccination and ID required. Masks are mandatory. We are now requiring N95, KN95, or KF94 masks. If you don't bring one, we will have some extras!

Felipe Martinez and Ayano Yoneda are full-time Argentine tango teachers with more than 30 years of experience combined. Felipe is from Spain; Ayano is from Japan, and they are based in the Bay Area. They are regularly invited to teach and perform around the world.

This class takes place in the Berkeley City Club ballroom (2nd floor). To enter the building, ring the bell and say "tango." You can dine before class at Julia's Restaurant in the Berkeley City Club, or purchase a drink at Morgan's Bar and Lounge (until 9:00 pm).

We are a 10-minute walk from Downtown Berkeley BART. For bike parking, use the bell to enter through the service entrance, and go straight until you are outside again.

No non-member parking in the City Club lot. Nearby parking lots are Trinity Parking Lot (2362 Bancroft Way), First Congregational Church Parking Lot (2345 Channing Way), and 2315 Ellsworth Street Garage @ the Metropolitan.
