A Weekend Workshop in the Feldenkrais-Method

with Günther Bisges visiting from London
2 & 3 of July 2022
in Dublin

This Workshop: Under – Standing Feet
Nature put the know-how of four million years into the development of our feet and every one of us in his or her lifetime walks an infinte number of steps. To discover how our feet create both a stable base for standing as well as the mobility for walking, running and jumping is therefore both interesting and rewarding.
The dynamic balance between holding and giving, between lengthening and shortening determines the healthy and lifelong functioning of our feet. These cyclical changes lead to an equal distribution of effort and the structural health of all the components involved: bones, cartilage, tendons and muscles.
In this course we will learn both through a number of movement experiments and through under-standing the three-dimensional anatomy of the feet how to regain and relearn their dynamic balance step by step and then walk it into our lives.

The Feldenkrais Method
The Feldenkrais Method is a highly respected and rapidly growing method in the emerging field of somatic education. It is unique in that it is based on sound mechanical and neurological principles and yet easily accessible through simple, practical lessons. Based on the work of Dr.Moshe Feldenkrais [masked]) and influenced by his expertise in physics, engineering and judo, the method draws together both the science and the art of human movement. It is an educational method with the focus on learning through developing awareness.
This approach has a broad range of applications as it may reveal and alter behaviours responsible for chronic tension and pain; it can facilitate recovery of movement restricted by injury or trauma and it can improve skills for professionals in Theatre, Sports, Dance and Music. At the same time it is a valuable learning tool for everyday life.
The Feldenkrais Method offers a kind of sensory motor-learning that will enhance the students ability to restore and recreate a coordinative sense of movement that allows him or her to have both mobility plus strength and stability when needed and necessary.
