What we're about
Are you involved in or interested in creating theatrical productions in the San Francisco Bay Area?
We are a group of playwrights, composers, choreographers, directors, casting directors, set designers, sound designers, lighting designers, video designers / videographers / photographers, stage managers, technical directors, actors, dancers, musicians, conductors, stage hands, costume designers, prop makers, producers, venue staff, educators, trainers, and funders of theater.
This Meetup provides a common ground for those interested in dramatic and musical theatre, professional and amateur theater, commercial and non-profit theatre, including non-traditional theatrical events (performance art, street theater, puppet shows, etc.) with activities including, for example:
* Discussions of all aspects of theatre creation and production
* Exchanging information on opportunities available
* Workshops of plays and musicals under development
* Readings and staged readings of plays for educational and motivational purposes
This group will particularly foster events that are inclusive and affirming of – rather than oppressive toward – people based on class, race/ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, (dis)ability, age, etc.
Meetup participants are encouraged to propose meetups related to the purposes of the group.
Transparency: This Meetup group is a project of the Ritual Art Troupe ( http://www.ritualart.org ), a 501c3 non-profit. Donations are welcome ( http://www.ritualart.org/donate ) with low non-profit fees and tax deductions as permitted by U.S. tax law. Since this group has more than 50 participants, Meetup charges $197 per year ($180 plus a bit less than $17 in "non-profit" PayPal fees, assuming 40 donations of $5, through the donate link in this paragraph and specifying the "Theatre Makers Meetup" project) OR $219 per year ($180 plus a little less than $39 in Meetup and WePay fees, assuming 44 donations of $5, by clicking on the green "Chip in" button). We have raised $15 (that is, about 7.5%) so far for the year starting March 1, 2018.
