VSDC Hosts Talk with Dr. Will Tuttle + Lunch @ Pianta / New Deal Cafe
The Veg Society of DC (http://www.vsdc.org) is excited to organize a talk by Will Tuttle, Ph.D. (http://www.worldpeacediet.com) with lunch at the new, all-vegan Pianta at the New Deal Cafe (http://www.newdealcafe.com/food/dinner-menu) in Greenbelt MD! Dr. Tuttle will deliver an inspirational talk entitled "Healing Our World: A Deeper Look at Food", based on his award-winning book, The World Peace Diet - Eating for Spiritual Health and Social Harmony. He will discuss how food affects us physically, culturally, and spiritually, and how to make positive changes that promote wellness, encourage wisdom and abundance, and minimize our eco-footprints on the earth. The talk places a fundamental emphasis on a vegan way of living and will be followed by a short Q&A. This event will be held at Pianta at the New Deal Cafe, in Greenbelt MD, which serves an accessible, plant-based, Italian-American menu that nurtures the environment, animals, and our health. They also have desserts from Vegan Treats. Pianta at the New Deal Cafe is managed by our wonderful friends at DC Vegan Catering (http://www.dc-vegan.com) so come out and show them your support! (Free parking is available in the lot just outside and around the shopping center - please read and follow all parking signs. The location is metro accessible with bus connections.) Please plan to have lunch at Pianta since they are kindly providing the space without additional charge. It is a 'pay on your own' event directly to the restaurant and they accept major credit cards. Please keep your RSVP current since VSDC is reserving space and wishes to accommodate people on a waitlist. **Arrive at 1130 am to get seated and order food. The event will start at noon and finish around 130 pm.** Attendees can mingle more after the talk has concluded. The World Peace Diet, which became a #1 Amazon best-seller in 2010, offers a compelling and liberating new understanding of our food and our culture. It has been called one of the most important books of the 21st century: the foundation of a new society based on the truth of the interconnectedness of all life. It is the first book to make explicit the invisible connections between our culture, our food, and the source of our broad range of problems—and the way to a positive transformation in our individual and collective lives. It has now been translated and published in over a dozen languages. Signed copies of The World Peace Diet (http://www.worldpeacediet.com/) will be available for purchase at a discounted price. Donations to support Dr. Tuttle's work will be accepted at the event. Dr. Will Tuttle is an award-winning speaker, educator, author, and musician. His music, writings, and presentations focus on creativity, intuition, and compassion. He is the author of The World Peace Diet, a book that has been called one of the most important books of the 21st century: the foundation of a new society based on the truth of the interconnectedness of all life. What we're about

The Washington DC Area Vegan Meetup Group

Engage with other vegans (and those aspiring) in the DC metropolitan area. Share ideas/thoughts on being or going vegan including recipes, vegan products, activities, restaurants, related topics, its philosophy, or simply make friends who share your interests.

The group is sponsored by the Veg Society of DC (VSDC,
http://www.vsdc.org ), who provides the enabling structure and pays the regular Meetup fee so that individual members of the group do not have to pay anything. A number of the group's activities will be organized by VSDC (whose events are always planned vegan).

Activities will be community-building to support those already on the path to an all-plant vegan diet, as well as educational, to provide people with the information and insight to take the next step or become more involved. As part of VSDC's philosophy for positive encouragement and inclusiveness, everyone is welcome to attend, regardless of background and where they are on the path to a vegan diet and lifestyle.

All events will be vegan.
