Absent is Lisboa's space for time.
We're building a community for people who want to disconnect from screens
and reconnect with analog ways of being - reading, creating, thinking,
playing, or just being present.
Our space at Rua da Glória 78 is designed to facilitate presence and connected, and equipped with high-quality materials like books, journals, art, supplies, board games, puzzles, and more.
We have partnered with local artist communities and small businesses to host events, workshops and meetups.
What we do:
- Regular open hours for walk-in phone-free time
- Creative workshops and skill-sharing sessions
- Community gatherings and themed events
- Social afternoons and evenings for connection
Everything is phone-free. We provide secure pouches you can unlock anytime at the cafe counter for emergencies.

Phone-Free Board Game Nights
Absent, Rua da Gloria 78, lisbon, PTBoard Game Nights at Absent - A cozy analog living room full of friends & strangers who end up staying a little past closing time each week.
Phones rest in pouches the entire evening. Turns out that's great for connection, who'd have thunk?!
The space fills up like one large analog living room. Games spread across tables, conversations move with them, and people you didn't know at 7pm are suggesting a rematch by 9.
Strategy games, social games, classics, a few surprises. Bring one you've been wanting to play with people.
Middle Eastern mezze and bowls, craft Dois Corvos beers, Portuguese wines, organic sodas, specialty coffee.

Not your typical trivia night. Because it’s not at night, it’s in the afternoon 🙃 . Also because the questions are designed for everyone, not just the trivia geeks.
For those of us that half remember episodes, argue about wrong answers and have built up a plethora of “useless” knowledge (actually the most fun kind of knowledge).Brunch - What's on the menu? Traditional Palestinian Spread. Speciality Coffee, Authentic Chais, Craft Beers, Wines and Soft drinks. Available for purchase.
Following brunch - Five trivia rounds built around your favorite comedy shows, and a bit of healthy competition with the other teams.
Coming Solo? Most people do. We’ll help you find a team right at the start.
Questions will be based on: Friends, The Office, How I Met Your Mother, Modern Family, Brooklyn 99, The Simpsons and the likes.

Maybe you think you’re “not spontaneous.” Or maybe you just don’t love the idea of looking silly in front of strangers.Good! Then this workshop is for you.
We’ll dive into the basics of improvisation in a fun, beginner-friendly environment.No acting experience required, you don't have to force funny voices (unless you want to). We’ll start with small exercises to get comfortable with movement, voice and presence, and to wake up your instincts and connect with the group.
Then we’ll move into playful scene work: short improvised moments in pairs or small groups. practice building on each other’s ideas.
We'll discover how quickly a whole story can appear out of nothing.Expect collaboration, creative risk-taking and the occasional beautifully awkward moments.
Don't worry about being funny. This is about being present. It’s about thinking less and responding more. About letting go of the need to “get it right.”

With a strong presence in theatre (Shakespeare, Teatro Soco) and short films (e.g., Sofia), she is also the author of the book Inventário de Nova Iorque and writes the newsletter Lunário Ocasional.
