In this class you will learn the basic tools of the metal shop:

  • Bench Grinder
  • Horizontal band saw (drop saw)
  • Sander
  • Miters
  • Files
  • Gauges
  • Calipers

Also learn about shop safety and ventilation. No open toed shoes.
Instructor: Brian Elder

Brian recently joined Ace to share his experience teaching metal shop as a grad student. Fresh off the doctoral grind, he is excited to give back to the maker community that inspired him to pursue mechanical engineering and gave him a thirst for learning. Brian loves to dive head-first into a wide variety of disciplines; from machining, woodworking and sewing, to robotics, programming and 3D printing!
