Sewing and Textile Open Lab: Sewing by hand

Hand stitched leather, hand stitched details, hand stitched buttons...this week the focus on hand sewing techniques... not to worry the machines are there but sometimes there is no substitute for doing it by hand.
Every open lab has a general focus but is not limited an could include any of the following:
Open to the public, come work on sewing, drafting patterns, repair and the textile based projects.
Crafty Rachel (thecraftyavenger.com (http://thecraftyavenger.com/)), will be on hand to help you get started, provide basic tools and machines for sewing (including a serger), give advice on your current project, or give ideas. Also a good place for beginners to get an overview and practice or for more experienced folks to get help.
Some things that will be going on include:
- Experimenting with laser cutting fabric
- Creating open source patterns
- Basic repair and clothing reconstruction
- Installing zipper and other hardware into projects
This open lab is has a causual format that is lead by the interest of the group present.
