Mini Mill Class @ Ace
Ace Makerspace, 6050 Lowell St #214, Oakland, CA, USThis class will cover the basics of using the small CNC milling machine at Ace. Each student will be given a part to fabricate, and will learn mounting, locating edges, using a fly cutter, drilling, pocketing and chamfering.
Participants can take their piece with them and finish fabricating it in the shop at a later time. Note that we will be using the Mach 3 software to control the mill directly rather than a generated file.

Laser Basics and Certification

Age: 14+This class is for good folks new to operating a laser or needing certification. It does not cover file preparation in detail. This workshop is part lecture and review and part practical experience.

- Test cutting and setting determination
- Laser Soft Program basics, limits and benefits
- Startup and shutdown procedures

Textiles Mending and Repair Night @ Ace Makerspace
Ace makerspace, 6050 Lowell St., Ste. 214, Oakland, CA, USGet going on your aspirational mending projects – you know that pile in the back of your closet with ripped clothes, moth-eaten curtains, and your favorite tote with the torn handle! Your knowledgeable host can help you choose the technique for your repair, provide guidance if you hit a snag, and share thrifty tips for successful mends.
What to Bring: Your textile repair projects. Please launder any clothing you plan to sew before you arrive.

Ace Makerspace Tour
Ace Makerspace, 6050 Lowell St #214, Oakland, CA, USThis tour goes all the way through the 6 rooms at Ace! Your tour guide will take you through all the basics and can provide help signing up as a member. Please DO NOT arrive more than 5 min. early or late as we will not be able to accommodate extra tours or early starts. Please note that there are stairs involved.
If you get here really early there is a beer garden on the corner that serves a great pint or lemonade.
