Jointer, Planer, Table Saw Basics & Certification @ Ace Makerspace
Ace makerspace, 6050 Lowell St., Ste. 214, Oakland, CA, USThe Table Saw, Jointer, and Planer are core woodworking tools that are great for beginner and veteran woodworkers. This workshop goes over the core principles of using these tools in the Ace Workshop including certification.
Level: Beginner
Timing: 3.5 hours
Location: Suite #214 Workshop
Corequisite: Shop Basics
Certifications: Jointer, Planner, and Table Saw
Age: 16+ with parent or guardian also taking the classWhat you will learn:
Learn how to safely operate the following tools in the Ace Workshop:- Table Saw
- Jointer
- Planer
What to bring: A notebook or well-charged phone for taking notes.
What to wear: Closed-toe shoes, short sleeves, and work clothes. Long hair must be tied back.
Safety Gear: Eye protection, ear protection, and sanitizer will be provided. You can also bring your own.This class requires a minimum of 3 students per session. If there are not enough students, we can issue a refund, otherwise refunds are not allowed.

Alteration Basics @ Ace
Ace Makerspace, 6050 Lowell St #214, Oakland, CA, USLearn practical clothing alteration techniques you can use to improve the fit of garments you already own or are working on.
In this class, Jasmine will go over hemming, darts, panels, and other common ways to alter the shape and fit of clothing.
This is a great class for anyone who wants to build confidence with basic garment adjustments, better understand how clothing is constructed, or learn approachable ways to make pieces fit more comfortably.Bring your curiosity and get ready to learn useful skills you can continue practicing in future sewing projects.

Serger Basics & Certification @ Ace Makerspace
Ace makerspace, 6050 Lowell St., Ste. 214, Oakland, CA, USLevel up your sewing skills with this class on using a Serger (aka Overlock) sewing machine. This class covers all the basics of using this fun but complex sewing machine. Serging is a great way to sew garments especially stretch fabrics and have great finish.
Level: Beginner
Timing: 2 Hours
Location: Coworking/Textiles suite 206
Prerequisites: Sewing 101, or basic sewing machine experience
Certification: Certification on the Ace Juki Sergers
Age: 18+We will review how this machine functions including how to read the manual. There will be hands on practice with threading for 3-Thread Overlock, Changing the needle and sewing a variety of fabric types. Troubleshooting, working with a differential feed and tensioning will also be reviewed.
Successful completion of this class qualifies folks to use the Juki MO-655N Sergers that Ace has in our Textiles studio.
This is not a bring your own machine class.What to Bring: If you wear glasses, please make sure to bring them.

FREE Electronics Night @ Ace Makerspace

Age: 10+At Open Lab you can:
- Get help with your electronics projects including program microcontrollers
- Learn a new skill like how to solder or how to use tools like Oscilloscopes
- Get help getting started with electronics for repair, special projects, art, or cosplay
- Access tools and supplies to repair electronics in small appliances and electronic devices
- Your hosts have a variety of skills and access to tons of resources all in a well-appointed electronics lab set up for social distancing.
