What is Adventuring?
For a full description, visit us at AdventuringLGBTQ.com
Adventuring is an outdoors club for the LGBTQ+ community in the Washington DC Metro area. We're all about enjoying the outdoors and being physically active in a social setting.
Don't fret about your current fitness level or prior outdoors experience - we welcome everyone. We also coordinate carpools to help you get there economically.
Our trip fee is $5, plus any mileage reimbursement to drivers (if you participate in a carpool). There is no membership fee.
Contact us with any questions at AdventuringLGBTQ@gmail.com. Even better - come to our Spring Social, Fall Social, Summer Picnic, or Winter Party to get to know us better.

See all- Robertson Mountain Circuit HikeEast Falls Church Metro Station, Arlington, VA
Trying to keep away the winter blahs? We’ve got a hike to get your heart and lungs pumping. This very strenuous hike features one of the steepest climbs in central Shenandoah National Park. The first half of the hike up Robertson Mountain will be very strenuous, with roughly 1700 feet of elevation gain in just over 1.5 miles; however, you'll be rewarded with great views of the Blue Ridge and the Piedmont and the popular Old Rag Mountain.
On the return leg of our hike, we’ll follow the Corbin Hollow Trail as we descend and we will encounter two potentially interesting stream crossings of Brokenback Run.
The total length of this circuit hike will be 9 miles with around 2400 feet of elevation gain.
Bring plenty of water, snacks, lunch, bug spray, sunscreen, sturdy footwear, and about $25 for transportation and trip fees. ($5 Adventuring trip fee, $12 for mileage reimbursement, and a shared portion of the $30/car SNP admission fee. We can usually cover the Park’s admission fee with those hikers who hold annual park passes.)
We will make our usual pit stop at a Sheetz to stock up on lunch and/or snacks before arriving at the Park. There may also be an optional dinner stop on the way home at the decision of the participants.
We'll carpool at 8:30 a.m. from the Kiss & Ride Lot of the East Falls Church Metro Station.

- Foggy Bottom-Bethesda Hike Via Capital Crescent Trail-RESCHEDULEDFoggy Bottom-GWU, Washington, DC
(Rescheduled from November 19 because of Metro problems.)
Hike Length: 8 miles
Moderate walk on mostly asphalt trails - very little elevation change
Start: 11 a.m. at the top of the escalators of the Foggy Bottom/GWU Metro Station (Blue/Orange/Silver Lines)
End: 3 p.m. at Bethesda Avenue
We will first walk to the front of the Watergate Complex and then to the Georgetown Waterfront, with great photo ops of Key Bridge and surrounding Potomac River venues. We will then take the Capital Crescent Trail to Bethesda. Water and bathrooms will be available at Fletcher’s Cove, which will also be our lunch break. Soon after entering Maryland, we’ll do a minor diversion off the CCT to view the Dalecarlia Reservoir from the Westmoreland Hills neighborhood. Please have your cameras ready for some nice pictures of the water! We’ll end at Bethesda Avenue, where we can grab a drink or a burger at the nearby World of Beer. The Bethesda Metro station (Red Line) is a short distance away.
Bring beverages, lunch and the $5 trip fee; exact change appreciated, with an option to Venmo. Also, for financially challenged Adventurers, the trip leader will pay the trip fee.

- The Greenbelt PromenadeGreenbelt Metro Station, Greenbelt , MD
In this version of our continued series of Greenbelt exploration hikes, we will promenade through the city in a funky figure-8 shaped hike. We will see the old, the newer, and the natural green space surrounding one of the first planned communities in the United States of the 1930s New Deal era.
Our easy-to-moderate hike of approximately 7 miles is on paved and natural trails with some elevation changes.
Our hike begins in the heart of Old Greenbelt and winds through the historic city and small walkable community as we pass by some of the historic homes.
Next, we will make our way over to Greenbelt Park for lunch with a quick trip into nature inside the beltway. After a small circuit in Greenbelt Park, we will exit the park and climb to Greenbelt’s North End before finding our way back to Old Greenbelt.
Meet at Greenbelt Metro Station at 11:00am, where we will form carpools just outside the station entrance. Bring lunch, water, comfortable shoes, and any other urban hiking gear you may need. Trip fees will be $5.
