American Chestnut Land Trust Hike (MD)

Details
For this hiking adventure, we'll return the American Chestnut Land Trust located near Prince Frederick, Maryland on the western shores of the Chesapeake Bay. The upland forests, wetland forests and marshes of the watershed support populations of several uncommon plant species and provide a home to several species of Forest Interior Dwelling [bird] Species.
Our approximately 9-mile out-and-back moderate hike traverses the ACLT via the PF2Bay Trail. The coolest part of the journey will be crossing Parkers Creek on a raft! Ahoy! We'll lunch along the shores of Parkers Creek. This hike has a cumulative elevation gain of approximately 1100 feet, with the trail either going up or down by 50 feet for most of the hike.
Meet at the New Carrollton Metro at 9am to form carpools. We'll gather just outside the lower entrance near the faregates. Please allow extra time to navigate the station, since the station configuration has recently changed (again!).
Bring water, snacks, lunch, bug spray, sunscreen, sturdy footwear. We'll make a Wawa pit stop to pick up lunch or any last-minute snacking needs. Trip fees should be about $11 ($6 for gas reimbursement, $5 Adventuring fee)
[Note: Limited to 25 hikers. RSVPs for this hike will open 2 weeks before the event and close at 7pm the day before the event.]
