A Midsummer's Night Woods Planning Meeting

Details
Adventuring's Woods Coordinator Craig Howell invites anyone interested in leading a hiking, camping or otherwise woodsy trip this summer or early fall to our Woods Planning Meeting on Wednesday evening June 25 from 7 to 9 p.m. in the basement of Larry's Lounge, 1836 18th Street NW, at the southwest corner of 18th & T NW.
Summer's extended daylight hours present perfect opportunities to venture far from the Beltway for rewarding expeditions to the furthest reaches of Virginia's Shenandoah National Park, the dramatic and scenic areas surrounding the Blue Ridge Parkway south of Shenandoah, and the heights of the Allegheny Plateau in western Maryland and West By God Virginia. (That's Seneca Rocks, a piece of Yosemite dropped into WV, in the picture above.) Craig and others will suggest possible destinations in these and other areas, and tentative dates may be suggested by anyone interested in heading to these places. Most of our outings are day trips, but we're certainly in the market for overnight or weekend camping trips (with either cabins or tents) as well.
If you've never led a woodsy trip for Adventuring before, here's your chance to learn the ropes as we'll team you with one of our many grizzled veterans. You'll probably find trip leading is really not so difficult, though it does demand serious commitment and considerable patience as you learn the gentle arts of Herding Cats.
Adventuring will provide snacks. Bring your own non-alcoholic beverages. ABC regulations forbid you from bringing in your own alcohol; you'll have to purchase any beer/wine/mixed drinks from Larry's Lounge itself.
Limited space means we have to cap attendance, so please don't RSVP unless you're pretty sure you'll be able to join us. If you RSVP and then find you won't be able to make it after all, be sure to change your RSVP status on Meetup so others on our Wait List can be accommodated. You must have attended at least one Adventuring trip before to participate.
