Afrosurreal Writers Workshop of Oakland

Our members are Black writers exploring the concept of reality through speculative fiction, poetry and related modes of writing. Many use the term afrofuturism to describe our craft. Consider it as three sides of a coin, front, back and sides. Afrosurrealism re-imagines our past and expands awareness of the present while afrofuturism dreams our future. We are all part of a continuum and many who write one also write the other.
