This group is operated by the Adirondack Mtn. Club - Albany Chapter (4/12/2023).
We are a very active local group dedicated to conservation, advocacy, recreation, education and stewardship of New York's wilderness areas. We sponsor a wide range of outdoor activities ranging from hiking, backpacking, padding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing to educational programs, monthly meetings and social events for people who love the outdoors.  - ADK Evening Paddle - Waterford Boat LaunchWaterford Boat Launch, 18 Front Street, Waterford, NY, US- Be on the water BEFORE 4:30pm. Plan to arrive at least 15-30 minutes ahead of launch time. We begin paddling promptly at 4:30pm. - In Waterford, turn from Broad St. south onto First St. and drive to the boat launch at its end. Or you can launch from Lansingburgh at the end of 123rd St. off of Second Ave./Rt.4 and meet the rest of the group on the Waterford side. - We will paddle upstream on the Hudson to Campbell Island or explore the shores and waterfalls of Peebles Island. - Rentals available from Upstate Kayak Rental during the Upstate season. Contact them to make arrangements, at least a day before the paddle. - Please sign up at auntmayor@aol.com by noon on the day of the paddle and give your cell phone number for last minute changes, which will be announced via text if conditions change. The email signup is the only way to sign up for this outing. - You must wear a securely fastened PFD, and have a white light and whistle (required!). NO cotton clothing. Water temperatures (&air temperatures) are dropping, follow the 120 guidelines for attire - See General Paddling info for evening paddling trips.. "Participant Responsibilities - Albany Chapter ADK" albany.adk.org… - In honor of "spooky season", costumes or decorations that don't interfere with safety, vision or movement may be added for the occasion. - Plan on joining us for the PCM (Paddlers Committee Meeting, all attendees are automatically members of the "Committee") after the outing.
