The Rocky Mountain Map Society opens their meetings to the public, they are free to attend but registration is required. It's an amazing group of people, fascinating takes on all things map.
If anyone wants to grab food before the talk, lemme know. Mantra Cafe is new and just opened across the street: https://order.toasttab.com/online/mantra-cafe-1147-broadway
Street parking in Capitol Hill nearby is free, it's 2 hour until 6pm but if you arrive after 4pm that 2 hours ends after it becomes all night parking. There's also parking meters near the museum that I believe also go free after 6pm. I tend to park on Grant and walk over.
On July 19, 1859, fourteen men ventured from the crowded goldfields of Colorado’s front range into the interior of South Park basin. Just below the Continental Divide they dipped their pans into the swirling waters of Tarryall Creek. What they discovered triggered a massive stampede to Central Colorado’s Tarryall Valley. Legions of fortune seekers soon set their faces to the west. For over twelve decades Tarryall drew a constant parade of explorers to wrest out its golden bounty.
