What we’re about
Welcome to this meet up group for LGBT+ individuals over 50 who share an interest in dining out, art, cultural events and want to create community.
We are in difficult and divisive times and we live in an area that is filled with art, artists and amazing cultural offerings. For me, art, music and community are important ways to let off steam, find joy and build resilience. Events will include museum exhibits, theatre, art, dance, music and lectures, as well as evenings out to enjoy the global restaurant scene throughout the local neighborhoods.
Some events published here may require the advance purchase of tickets:
- If you would like me to purchase tickets in advance for any events, I will require your phone number, email address, and immediate payment for the ticket prior to purchase. If I am not sure of the exact seats, and therefore the cost, I will determine the approximate price for purposes of payment and will refund the difference if they are less expensive. If they are more expensive you can then pay me the difference.
You can pay me by Venmo: @Erica-Wilson79 - If I do not have time to request payment first, your RSVP to a performance for which I need to purchase tickets in advance is a commitment to pay for the ticket regardless of your ability to attend. If you cannot attend you can publish the availability of your ticket on this site. If someone else pays for the ticket, I will reimburse you.
I am looking forward to seeing you at fun and interesting future events!!
Erica

Boston, MA 02115 - Roxbury Concert Series: Biribá Union then Lunch at Suya Joint*Roxbury Branch of the Boston Public Library , Boston , MA
Come to hear this unique and inventive trio followed by lunch at Suya Joint to support this Boston institution during Paul Dama's ICE Detention*.
Biribá Union, blends global sounds into a dynamic musical experience, takes its name from the Brazilian wild sugar-apple, symbolizing its vibrant and eclectic spirit. This electrifying ensemble features Mike Block (cello, vocals), Grammy Award-nominated hip-hop artist Christylez Bacon (beatbox, guitar, rhymes), and New York bassist Edward Perez, who has performed locally with the Silkroad Ensemble.
The trio's music draws on the freestyle theatrics of hip-hop and go-go music; the beauty of Brazilian forró and choro; American roots music; and the improvisational spontaneity of jazz. These International influences and classic American styles come together in a joyful and unexpected fusion. Feel the beat, soak in the energy, and let yourself get lost in the magic of Biribá Union!
Come out to support Suya Joint and Paul Dama
*Paul Dama, the manager of Suya Joint one of Boston's award winning west african restaurants, was detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) on June 2025 on his way to church and is currently held in a New Hampshire detention center, despite having a pending asylum case and valid work authorization. His detention highlights broader concerns about how immigration policies affect immigrant workers and the local economy, as the restaurant is fighting to remain open and support his legal efforts.
