What we’re about
ATTENTION Professional Fine Artists & Drawing Hobbyists -
Feeling stuck at home? Uninspired? Lonely? Is it hard to make new friends and keep up with your old friends?
This is the place for you - if you enjoy drawing and painting as a hobby or professionally, this is the place to meet other artists online and offline.
We do weekly zoom hangouts - drawing together, watching movies (retro, anime, bad movies) and learn to draw online. Occasionally, we meet in person and draw outside, or at cafes and public spaces. Sometimes play board games or sing karaoke!
Eventually we will no longer be on Meetup (as of May 2026) and migrate to an online platform like Discord.
Arts & Rec Toronto started in 2014 and has grown into a close-knit group of friends that were mainly from Toronto, Ontario.
Now we welcome artists globally (mainly proficient in English) and are curious about us Toronto Canucks :). We love our Americans too!
================================
We hope you're enjoying the Arts & Rec events! If you'd like to give support, please consider making a small donation at Ko-fi - https://www.ko-fi.com/artsnrectoronto .
This helps cover Meetup costs, Zoom and other miscellaneous expenses with hosting events (and my time :) ) ! Thank you all so much!

Every wanted to draw backgrounds for your character but don't know how to draw rocks or trees properly? Or put things in perspective?
Are you interested in learning how to draw the basic shapes and fundamentals of drawing Landscapes?It's close to summer now and it would be nice to sketch outside and paint the outdoors but first lets learn the fundamentals of drawing and painting Landscapes. Come join me tonight to watch some of Noah's Landscape videos. The videos are about 2hrs long, with 5-10 min break inbetween.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fLvdtYCzci8
I am limiting the viewer session to 10 people. It's much nicer with a smaller group who are eager to learn from each other and chat. If you are serious in attending, please RSVP. If you missed the session without notifying me , you will be considered a 'No Show' and will be bar from attending future sessions.
A reminder - if you are attending this event for the first time, please watch this video or you will get lost following this event on colours https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWMMo1v594Y
This event will be the last event where I will be accepting new people into the landscape series as it will be hard to keep up.
