Change myself, change the world…
SMART Recovery® (Self Management And Recovery Training) helps individuals gain independence from addictive substances and activities.
Welcome to our community! Our discussions are based on scientific knowledge and evolve as scientific knowledge evolves. SMART is helpful for some participants primarily because they become involved with a new community of helpful and friendly people. For others, SMART is helpful primarily because they learn new ways of thinking about themselves and their behavior.Although we have science-based ideas for you to consider, no one will tell you what to do. Our slogan is “Discover the Power of Choice.” For many SMART is a combination of a new community and new ways of thinking. You can be involved with SMART in whatever way you want to. We look forward to your participation.

Known for its sizzling summer heat and colorful spring blooms, Death Valley is one of the most extreme spots on planet Earth and offers outstanding views of the Milky Way on a clear, moonless night. Death Valley is also a hiker’s paradise with an eclectic mix of slot canyons, salt flats, sand dunes, and colorful rock formations.
All atheist adventures include a pre-planned group sightseeing itinerary and a Saturday evening science talk under the stars. This year, we're hosting former park ranger Kristin Hindershot, who will present on "The History of Women in Astronomy!"
Tickets do not include meals or park fees. Everyone is also responsible for their own camping gear (tents, lights, coolers, etc.). Get tickets now to reserve a spot in our group campsite!
We do not recommend you bring your pets. Here are Death Valley's pet policies.

Atheists Volunteer! Glendale Highway Cleanup 🛣🧹🦺
Holly Drive, Holly Dr, Glendale, CA, USIf you believe community service is a critical part of giving back locally we hope you join us as we clean the 2 Freeway in Glendale! We work with CalTrans to leave a cleaner, most sustainable future for everyone that lives here. Come join our efforts!
Atheists United is a community nonprofit that provides programming for Greater LA's million+ atheists and agnostics. We've proudly been hosting highway cleanups in Los Angeles for almost two decades.
What to wear:
Close-toed shoes, long pants, sunscreen or long sleeve shirt. Dress in layers because it can start out cold and warm up later in the morning. We'll provide bags, gloves, and grabbers so you won't have to bend over to pick up trash. Minimum age to participate is 16.
Lunch or Refreshments:
We'll pick a place for refreshments after the cleanup
How long:
The highway clean-up will take about 2 hours; plus optional get-together for refreshments afterward.
How to find us:
We'll meet at the Holly exit, off of the 2 freeway in Glendale (See map). Call Steve if you can't find the group 310-686-8862.
RSVP:
Please remember to change your RSVP to "no" if you can't make it. This is a common courtesy. This is also important because we can't do the cleanup with only one person attending, for safety reasons.
Other details:
Please post any questions in the comments and I'll update the event with more details.
