The Bearoff

Details

When all checkers are in the inner boards your in the final stages of Backgammon - the bearoff.

In a long bearoff (40 plus pips) use the 8-9-12 rule.

Count your pips, then your opponents pips. If your lead is at least 8% of your pip count you can double. If it's more than 9% you can redouble.
If you trail by more than 12% of your opponents pip count pass the cube. If you are closer take the cube.

In a short bearoff (under 30 pips) being on roll and same pip count as your opponent double.

With a couple of checkers left count the number of rolls that actually bear off before doubling.
