OSC brainstorming at this week's SHARE San Jose meeting - Wednesday 7:30pm in Mountain View

SHARE San Jose (http://share-sj.org) is a local chapter of the global SHARE (http://www.share.dj/) initiative.  We've been alternating between jam-oriented meetings (where we get together and jam) and  discussion-oriented meetings (very informal shop talk and show-n-tell about whatever people want to talk about or show).  This week we're having a discussion-oriented meeting, though we'll have a very good sound system that people can use to play and demo - feel free to bring laptops, instruments, and music (your own or otherwise) to play.

One of the things I want to do at this meeting (which should be of interest to members of this meetup group) is some brainstorming, to see what kind of group interactions (HUB-like or otherwise) we can play around with, using OSC.  Ideally, the ideas we come up with at this meeting can then be put into actual practice at our purely jam-oriented meetings.  There are many directions this could go in, including:

1) creating new systems along the lines of the HUB networked music group - see http://crossfade.walkerart.org/brownbischoff/ for some historical info about them. Many of you were at the recent meetup of this group at Cogswell where Scot Gresham-Lancaster described some of their systems.

2) using protocols to allow clients to dynamically discover the parameters of an OSC-capable system, so that clients can adapt to and control unfamiliar systems.

Both music and video systems can be included in this.  We'll just brainstorm about the possibilities, and see where they lead us.  Anyone's welcome to come, share their ideas, and join the discussion.  See http://share-sj.org for more info - the meeting is 7:30pm this Wednesday, at 1310 Villa Street, Mountain View.  If you're not there around 7:30, call or text Holt Sorenson at[masked] to come open the door.
