Bargain Bin Movie Club

We heard from folks that yall would like to get to know others who also like bad movies in this group. So I reached out to my contact at Delta Beer Lab and set aside some tables for us to have a social hour.

I will put on my teacher hat and help lead some discussion. We also thought it might be fun to use some movie-themed conversation cards.

For those who have not been to Delta, it is a very inclusive space that supports non-profits, and they are amazing to work with. While their main thing is beer, they also have many great NA options and food.

They have plenty of parking, and bus stops are right in front of the main building on Rimrock.

For this Spookie Month Showing, we have decided that we will do
Frank Henenlotter films, starting with 'Brain Damage'.

Are you ready for a wild ride? Meet Aylmer - a parasite who injects an addictive fluid into their host, in exchange for human brains.

Note: This film is rated R and features gore, sexual content, and substance-use themes.

Starting at 6, we will let folks settle in, briefly discuss the film, and then
play it. Afterward, there will be some time for folks to hang out and talk about the film. Instead of our usual snacks, we will have candy for the spooky month.

If folks have not been to Pinney Library, the room we have booked is perfect for film viewing and has plenty of seating (and air conditioning!). This library location is close to many bus stops, and has a large parking lot.

While this is still a ways away, we wanted to put something on the calendar!

Similar to a book swap or craft swap, this will be a DVD and VHS tape swap. More logistics will come as the date gets closer, but at its core, if you bring a movie, you can take a movie. This is not for resellers - this is for folks who want to watch new movies or add something new to the collection. Don't bring 10 copies of 'Click' just so you can grab 10 movies and run :)

We are hosting our first PowerPoint Night!

More logistics will come later, but this will be a PowerPoint Night for folks to present any bad movie of their choice. You can talk about how great it is, why it sucks, but you will only have 5 minutes to showcase it (unless we don't have a lot of folks signing up to present - but we will deal with that later). The only thing is that we ask folks to send over their presentation no later than the day before.

The date is tentative for now, and we will reserve a location as the date gets closer (libraries don't book out this far).
