What we're about

The San Francisco Bay Area is host to many of the best and most unique beer producers in the country. Some are considered mirco-breweries, only producing enough fermented beverage for their customers, while others produce for an international audience.

Beer Socials is dedicated to a wide variety of beer tasting activities including;

* Brewery touring and beverage sampling

* Beer Socials

* Private tastings

* Beer festivals

* And much more

Each month, Beer Social participants will have the opportunity to join beer activities designed specifically to taste beer, ale or other unique fermented beverages. Event host/organizers are welcome.

BABS Dollar Day at the Races (and mini-crawl)!

Golden Gate Fields

Yes, it's finally happening...a BABS outing to the horse races for Dollar Days, followed by a mini-crawl in Berkeley! For those who have never been, Golden Gate Fields offers Dollar Day Sundays, with $1 General Parking (using the Buchanan Street entrance), $1 General Admission, $1 race programs, $1 hot dogs, $1 (crap) beers, and $1 mimosas. I believe they also sell Sierra Nevada & Anchor for full price inside the clubhouse? The event technically runs from 10am-5pm, but we'll likely be arriving closer to 11 and leaving between 2 and 3. After the ponies we'll be heading over to the Sierra Nevada Torpedo Room (2031 Fourth St) for a few rounds, followed by a 1-mile trek over to Fieldwork Brewing (1160 Sixth St) to wrap up the day. For those wisely not wanting to drive, we'll be Lyfting to and from the races, and El Cerrito Plaza or North Berkeley are the closest BART stops. Come soak up some rays (weather permitting) and wager some hard-earned cash on oddly-named horses! Also, for anyone not able to join us at the track, come meet up with us during the beer crawl---our progress/location will be noted in the comments. Monthly Bottle Share

The Willows

It's the BABS monthly bottle share! We've had some seriously great beer at past events. The Willows (http://www.thewillowssf.com/) has invited us to have a monthly bottle share on the first Sunday of every month. Here's the deal: It's a $5 corkage fee per person and The Willows will open all the bottles and do all the pouring. When buying a beer for this event please at least go to a good bottle shop. I realize there is a learning curve here and we all start somewhere, but please do not bring beer commonly available at Safeway. The Willows also offers a well curated list of bottles. If you choose to buy your bottle there you will get a 20% discount and won't have to pay corkage. I would rather you not bring home brew. I love trying people's beer, and it isn't as if you'd be ostracized if you bring it but it isn't really the point of this event and can lead to an awkward situation. Please pledge $1 a month to help keep this group going. https://www.meetup.com/bayareabeersocials/pages/24195797/How_to_support_Bay_Area_Beer_Socials/
