What we’re about
Group founded by the organizers Read Wedding, which is a monthly open mic (obviously, in Wedding) on the last Monday of every month. RW also hosts editing sessions, book markets, workshops and more, curated by Brooks. Our events welcome all languages and themes, but will not tolerate racism, Islamophobia, sexism, queerphobia, transphobia, or any such form of hate.
This group intends to bring together individuals interested in sharing their writing, hearing and supporting others' work, or just to spend a night doing something a bit different, particularly in the neighborhoods of Berlin in which these events happen less often. This is not a group only for Read Wedding. If you're an organizer and interested in posting events here that are happening in neighborhoods like Pankow, Mitte, Wedding or Moabit, we're here for it.

- Read Editing: Monthly Writers MeetupVagabund Brauerei Kesselhaus, Berlin
Most events for writers are focused around creation or performance. Much comes between this, yet we do not always hold each other in it. It is perhaps expected that all of those self-questioning, unsure, multi-path moments between lightbulb idea and snap-inducing performances are to be personal and private.
We reject that, and offer you a space for everything unfinished. Needing bouncing around. Ready for a test run. Please join us on the 2nd Monday of every month for this event, build for all of your “in between works“ by the Read Wedding collective.
We will meet in a more traditional meetup format than our open mic -- without any set format of facilitation. We will determine the approach to each session based on who's arrived and what their goals are. You may expect some combination of solitary writing time, sharing and feedback, and guided exercises. We'd love for you to show up however you are, and with some writing materials (including your phone, if you prefer). However you arrive, so long as you are feeling curious and open, we will have something for you and your work.
See you there!
Brooks, Bubamarrë & Johanna

What stories does your body have to tell? Explore your creativity and eroticism in this intensive weekend creative writing course.
We will use embodiment techniques to help us craft new and exciting texts in a cosy, intimate space just for women, non-binary and queer people over one pleasurable weekend in July.
This course will provide a structured, safe space for you to explore your relationship with your body, eroticism, and sexuality through creative writing. Whether you are new to creative writing, or an experienced writer, this course will help take your writing to a new level.
Together, we will experiment, work with one another and read and discuss texts written from the body. You will leave with creative work, techniques and tools to continue, and a new community.
Spaces are limited to keep this a cosy, close-knit group.

Her latest children’s book Whisper, Shout, Let it Out (Macmillan, 2023), shortlisted for BookTrust's StoryTime Prize, is about creative vocal experimentation. Her work has been published and presented by the BBC, Penguin Random House, Asia Literary Review, the New York Times, Washington Post, Kali Theatre Company, the Roundhouse and Filmworks Trust, London. As a facilitator, she devises unique interdisciplinary workshops using somatic, acting, art, and vocal techniques. What previous attendees have said
Madhvi’s course really helped me get out of my head and write from my body instead, through a variety of writing and somatic exercises. She facilitates a very safe and supportive space to share your work (if you wish) and get helpful feedback. I also had a lot of fun! Would recommend for anyone wanting to try a different approach to their writing and spark new creative inspiration. -- Charlotte
---
It was amazing and i would totally recommend it! -- Tine
---
I discovered that I can tap into the erotic with the help of simple tools: embodiment exercises, reading something sensual, smells, listening to others’ stories, games, memory... And that I can write things I actually like when I let go of my inhibitions. -- Joanna
---
Madhvi takes you on a wild journey to explore what eroticism is, what it means to you as an individual or as a person in relation with others. The space is crafted to encourage experimentation and perform somatic exercises so the texts that you write can reflect real lived experience and be pulsing with the true energy inherent to all things eros.
You'll meet like minded people and make some writing you'll feel proud of. -- Sylvia
