What we're about

Boston PHP is the largest education-focused Meetup in New England with more than 3,700 members.

We are a lot more than PHP!

We have been meeting since 2002 (http://past.bostonphp.org) and usually meet every month on a Wednesday. We have a wide range of full-stack development topics related to PHP.

All meetings are free, and we encourage everyone to participate and get involved and help grow the PHP community. After each meeting we typically go to a nearby restaurant/bar/pub for more informal discussion.

Our member engagement strategy offers services beyond monthly meetups. We focus on the continuing education of already well-educated adults.

For example, we have developed six virtual self-study groups that are run during the down time between bi-monthly in-person Meetups:

PHP Percolate
jQuery jAM
HTML5 Brunch
Drupal Diner
Git Lunch
Agile Appetizer
Angular Stew
AWS Snack

More than 230 members have completed at least one of these courses and are enshrined on our Self-Study Group | Wall of Accomplishment (http://www.meetup.com/bostonphp/messages/boards/thread/21414292).

In addition, more than 260 members receive job postings from other members via our Boston PHP Job Board (beta) (http://www.meetup.com/bostonphp/messages/boards/thread/44803382).

We video all of our meetups. To access our videos, just follow this link (http://videos.bostonphp.org).

Topics we cover:

We base all our meetings from attendee suggestions. If you have an idea for a topic that you would like to see (or present), please use our ideas section (http://ideas.bostonphp.org).

Calling all presenters:

We want to have a mix of events from beginner and advanced topics. We are looking for presenters for each of these topics. If you (or someone you know) are experienced in a topic and have some presentation skills - then please let us know. We are also looking for volunteers to help us with planning, logistics, and other odd jobs.

Recruiter Speed Dating
Needs a date and time

Needs a location

There are approximately 500 technology recruiters in the Boston area. Only the most recommended recruiters (Boston's Rockstar Recruiters (http://beantownweb.blogspot.com/2016/07/bostons-rockstar-recruiters-q3-2016.html)) will be invited to set up a table to review your resume and give you personal feedback. Recruiters and candidates will have five minutes to chat and learn about each other before candidates move on to meet with the next recruiter. That's the core idea. Your comments and feedback are welcome.
