From: Michael B.
Sent on: Friday, March 30, 2012 7:49 AM

We are very excited about our next meetup on Lean UX. If you've struggled to bring together Agile and UX, then this event is for you. This same topic and speaker has been offered elsewhere for hundreds of dollars a ticket. We are putting it on for free and serving you food as well.

What: Lean UX: Getting Out of the Deliverables Business
When: Wednesday, April 4, 2012 (6-9pm)
Where: Microsoft NERD Center
RSVP: Here

Lean UX: Getting Out of the Deliverables Business

Traditionally UX Design has been a deliverables practice. Wireframes, sitemaps, etc defined the practice of UX Design (IA, IxD, UI Design etc). While this work has helped define what a UX Designer does and their value, it has also put designers in the deliverables business – measured & compensated for the quality of their deliverables (instead of the success of the experiences they design).

Lean UX is a methodology of marrying Agile and User Experience design in a way that can work in any size company and any development environment.

Join Boston PHP and O'Reilly Author Jeff Gothelf as we show you Lean UX - the practice of bringing the experience to light faster, with less emphasis on deliverables and greater focus on the actual experience being designed.

Attendees will take away clear, tactical ways to incorporate this way of working that will have them delivering better designs, faster in a more collaborative manner. If you've loved our separate events on Agile and UX, then this event is for you.

About Jeff:
Jeff Gothelf is the author of the upcoming O'Reilly book (2012), Lean UX: Getting Out of the Deliverables Business. He is an Agile practitioner, interaction designer, user experience team leader, blogger, public speaker, author and design/product thinker. Jeff is currently the Director of User Experience at in NYC where he lead a team of interaction designers, visual designers and copywriters in pursuit of reinventing the online jobs industry.

This event is being made possible by a generous donation and sponsorship from Above The Fold Design. They are a Boston based company providing businesses and developers with user experience consulting and user interface designs that are intuitive, evocative and results-oriented.
