~~~Our Guidelines~~~
- Please only RSVP if you believe you'll actually attend. With the limited attendance number, the organizer will monitor the event closely. If you are a consistent "no show," you will be removed from the group.
- Out of consideration of members who are on the waitlist, you must change your RSVP to Not Going by NOON day of event. This is so people that want to come can plan accordingly.
- Do not just "show up" at the meetup if you aren't on the attending list. Of course, you are welcome to go to the venue, you just won't be a part of the meetup event.
Come to socialize and partake in a potluck at 5:00 pm and the concert starts at 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Bring food and wine of your choice to share. Please - no junk food!
This is listed as a meetup so we can keep track of the headcount. We can only handle 60 people in the yard. You are NOT guaranteed a spot at the concert until you purchase your ticket. It is a good idea to bring a chair. RSVPing to this event doesn't guarantee you a spot at the concert, it only helps us know what the space available is. There will be some seating but it is a good idea to bring a chair or blanket + wine glass.
Come join us for the first Backyard Movie of the Summer at Pat's house, 429 Maxwell.
Short notice.....let me know if you are interested in attending. We are hhoping for at least 10 people!O Brother, Where Art Thou? is a 2000 satirical comedy-drama musical film written, produced, co-edited, and directed by Joel and Ethan Coen. It stars George Clooney, John Turturro, and Tim Blake Nelson, with Charles Durning, Michael Badalucco, John Goodman and Holly Hunter in supporting roles.
It follows three escaped convicts searching for hidden treasure while a sheriff relentlessly pursues them. Its story is a modern satire which, while incorporating social features of the American South, is loosely based on Homer's epic Greek poem the Odyssey.[11] Some examples of this include Sirens, a Cyclops, and the main character's name, "Ulysses", which is the Roman name for "Odysseus".[12]Much of the music used in the film is period folk music.[14] The movie was one of the first to extensively use digital color correction to give the film an autumnal sepia-tinted look.[15] The film was met with a positive critical reception, and the soundtrack won a Grammy Award for Album of the Year in 2002.[16] The country and folk musicians who were dubbed into the film include John Hartford, Alison Krauss, Dan Tyminski, Emmylou Harris, Gillian Welch, Ralph Stanley, Chris Sharp, and Patty Loveless. They joined to perform the music from the film on the Down from the Mountain concert tour. One of the performances was filmed and released as a documentary.[14][17]
