What we’re about
If you don't believe in supernatural entities or powers, if you are concerned about religious intolerance or religiously motivated violence, if you rely on human reasoning and science to guide your decisions and behavior, if you have a naturalistic view of the world, or you just don't believe in God or gods, you are not alone. The Boulder Atheists group provides presentations, meetings, and serves as a social community for atheists, agnostics, rationalists, secular humanists, Brights, and free thinkers in and around Boulder, Longmont, Lafayette, Broomfield, and surrounding communities in Northern Colorado.
Boulder Atheists wish to promote the understanding and acceptance of atheism with public education, good deeds, public activities and affiliations with other local and national secular groups. We strive to be inclusive to ALL and promote gender equality, LGBTQ equality and racial justice.
BA is a non-profit 501 (c) (3) Nonprofit Corporation and relies on membership dues to support the infrastructure required for these events. Please consider becoming a paid member to BA after attending 3 events. Paid annual membership starts at only $35. You can join at boulderatheists.org.
We are dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, welcoming, and harassment-free space and experience for all community participants. Comments on the Meetup events should be constrained to the event logistics, ride sharing, etc. Comments and behavior at events should be kind and considerate towards event hosts, attendees, and the Boulder Atheists board members. Join us for a family-friendly barbecue picnic & potluck followed by a presentation on urban survival. This event is open to the public and FREE for everyone.
Barbecue Picnic & Potluck - 2:00 pm
- Bring a dish to share: Non-glass container beverages (including beer and wine), a side dish, appetizer, or dessert.
- We'll supply hamburgers and veggie burgers with buns and all the fixings, baked chicken, along with water and lemonade.
- No glass containers allowed.
- This event is limited to 40 adults, so register early!
Urban Survival Presentation - 3:30 pm
- Join us for a crash course on urban survival.
- Mike Tomlinson, a graduate of Wilderness Institute for Survival Education (WISE), is our presenter.
- What should you do if your car gets stuck in a snow drift?
- What items should be in your auto survival kit?
- What are the Do's and Don'ts of modern day emergency planning?
Directions from Boulder: Take Valmont Road to 75th Street and go north just under a mile.
- Take Walden Ponds Road to the end.
- We'll be at the Cottonwood Marsh Picnic Shelter.
- Carpooling is recommended since parking is limited.
About Walden Ponds: There are beautiful trails. A fishing license is required to fish for those 16 or older. Or just hang out, drink beer and have a burger or two. Here is a map of the habitat.

Please come and join us to participate in this great monthly community service event! Every hour donated by a volunteer helps provide 60 meals to people in our community who have food insecurity. We need more help with this- please come if you can!
