Run Twin Sisters Peak (RMNP)

Details

For this Saturday they are calling for wet weather by late morning and afternoon, so we're planning a short, steep, and sweet route up the Twin Sisters Peak Trail. Assuming the weather holds, we'll have some spectacular views, including an unobstructed view of Longs Peak, Mount Meeker, Estes Cone, and the Continental Divide.

ROUTE
The route is in RMNP, but outside the fee stations. It is an out/back and just under 8 miles with around 2300 ft of gain. The goal will be to be up and back down below tree-line before anything nasty arrives. Probably around 3 hours total.

CARPOOL
We'll use the following 2 carpool options:

  1. North Foothills Trailhead at 6:00a – At the intersection of Broadway and Hwy 36, head north on 36 a few hundred feet. Turn right onto the dirt road. Trailhead is a little ways down on your left.
  2. Moxie Bread in Lyons at roughly 6:20a - 442 High St. @ the corner of 36 & High, Lyons, CO

We'll start from the outer trailhead across the road from Lily Lake at 7:00a, So, anyone not wanting to carpool can head straight there.

CONSIDERATIONS
We should have sunshine for most of the climb, but could encounter rain on the way down, so bring rain gear. A lite shell and gloves are recommended as well, since it could be chilly in the morning.

Sorry, no dogs in RMNP.

BREAKFAST
I expect it to be raining by the time we finish, so let's skip trailhead breakfast and plan to head to a restaurant. We can decide where on the run.

Please add a note in the comments on where you intend to meet the group (e.g. which carpool or at trailhead).

Lastly, we have new BTRBC apparel for sale. Access the Trail Ambitions Store to purchase a t-shirt, hoodie, and/or hat!

BTW, I used the hoodie on last week's camping trip. It was perfect!
