What we’re about
A group of trail runners that are as serious about their trail running as the breakfast that follows. We enjoy diversity in our trails, restaurants, and running cohorts. Many runs are in the Boulder area; however we also look to get into the high country as much as possible. Runs are typically on Saturday mornings. The duration varies from about 2 hour to 4+ depending on location, group fitness, schedules, etc. Terrain can range from easy flat to steep technical. Pace can vary widely however we never let anyone forget why they joined a group.

See all- Run St. Vrain Mountain TrailSt. Vrain Mountain Trailhead, Lyons, CO
For this Saturday we will be running up Meadow and St Vrain Mountains west of Allenspark. The route has become an early season favorite because of the large snow drift that typically forms on the east facing side of the mountain, which is very fun to run down. We won't know for sure if it is runnable until we get up there, but regardless, we'll be above tree-line, so I expect some great views. Btw, this one contains the giant snow slide, for those of you that watched last year's video.
The timing of when we do this run is based on how quickly the snow is melting. If we wait too long, the snow drift could be too thin. So, this year we are doing it a little earlier than last year.
ROUTE
The route will start just south of Allenspark off Ski Road, close to the St. Vrain Mountain Trail trailhead. It is a loop with extensions to the top of Meadow and St Vrain mountains. We will go up on the St Vrain Mountain trail and back via Rock Creek trail and 4 x 4 road 1162. Total distance is a little under 12 miles, and there will be about 4000 feet of vertical gain. It will take us around 5-6 hours. Shorter options are to do the route as an out/back, or to skip Meadow Mountain (about 1 mile).CARPOOL / DIRECTIONS
We'll use the following 2 carpool options:- North Foothills Trailhead at 7:00 AM – At the intersection of Broadway and Hwy 36, head north on 36 a few hundred feet. Turn right onto the dirt road. Trailhead is a little ways down on your left.
- Moxie Mercantile in Lyons at 7:20 AM – 442 High St. @ the corner of 36 & High, Lyons, CO
If you'd prefer to meet us at the trailhead, I'd recommend waiting in Allenspark and you can follow us in as we come through - it may be a little tough to find the starting point if you are not familiar with it. Make sure to let us know if you choose this options. Note, we won't park in the trailhead, instead, we will park on the side of the road at the junction of Forest roads 1161 and 1162. Carpooling is advised, since there is limited parking.
We plan to start the run around 8:00 AM.
CONSIDERATIONS
Dogs are allowed, but must be on leash.Since this will be our first time above tree-line this season, it is advised that you be prepared for various weather conditions, as they can change quickly. Although, I am expecting good weather this weekend, it is important that we all be responsible for ourselves and be prepared for anything. I recommend always having a layer to block the wind and perhaps precipitation. Light gloves and a hood or hat would be good as well. These items will help with safety. Also, adding some dry clothes for breakfast and the ride back will give you some added comfort.
BREAKFAST (READ ACTION REQUIRED)
