Full Pink Moonrise/Sunset Walk
Details
TYPE: Walk | PACE: Gentle/Conversational | TERRAIN: Dirt/Gravel Trails | DISTANCE: 3.3 miles |
Walk Description: The first full moon of spring rises on the evening of Wednesday, April 1, just as the sun sets behind the mountains. Let's reverse our typical pattern and do an after-work wander to watch the full "Pink Moon" rise as the sun goes down. We'll hike the 3.3-mile loop around Davidson Mesa and maybe add the loop around Harper Lake if the group wants to stay out in the moonlight.
Schedule and Planning: We will meet at 7:00 pm in the parking lot at Davidson Mesa, on the west side of McCaslin Blvd. The hike will take about an hour, but we'll stop to take in the views along the way. Sunset and moonrise will happen simultaneously around 7:25 pm. Parking is also availablbe in the Harper Lake lot on the east side of McCaslin Blvd. You can park there and take the underpass to our meeting place.
Walking Movement Leader: Darcy Kitching started volunteering with the Boulder Ramblers in 2015. She is the author of "The Best Urban Hikes: Boulder." You can reach Darcy at (720) 805-8293 or besturbanhikesboulder@gmail.com.
