Boulder Walk 180: Western Half of the Slow Marathon
Details
TYPE: Urban Hike | PACE: Fitness | TERRAIN: Sidewalks, Multi-Use Paths, Dirt Trails | DISTANCE: Approx 13 miles |
Walk Description: Get set for Walk and Bike Month and our big Walk 360 Slow Marathon! Join us to train for the big day (June 27), or just complete the Walk 360 in two halves, with this 13-mile, 180-degree adventure following the eastern half on May 30. The western half of the Boulder Walk 360 Slow Marathon links the Holiday neighborhood with Wonderland Lake, North Boulder Park, Mapleton Hill, Chautuaqua Park, Shanahan Ridge, and the Table Mesa Shopping Center. We'll take breaks along the way and have lunch together at the end. See this link for a map of the route: https://caltopo.com/m/HV0K
Schedule and Planning: We will meet at 7:30 am at Holiday Park, on the corner of 14th and Yaupon Avenue in North Boulder. Stop by Spruce Confections just down the street, at Broadway and Yellow Pine Avenue, to pick up a breakfast treat and use the restroom beforehand, if desired. The cafe opens at 7 am. This urban hike is 13 miles, so it should take us about 5 hours to complete (with breaks). Both the start and end points of this hike are easily accessible by bus - take the SKIP bus along Broadway. Please arrange carpools or ride shares as needed.
Walking Movement Leaders: This event will be led by experienced Ramblers, including Darcy, who created the Walk 360 in 2017. She is the author of "The Best Urban Hikes: Boulder." You can reach Darcy at (720) 805-8293 or besturbanhikesboulder@gmail.com.
