Weekend Hiking/Camping - The Cumberland Trail & Cumberland Mtn State Park, TN

April 25 - 27, 2025

Weekend of camping and day hiking on the Cumberland Trail and in Cumberland Mountain State Park, Tennessee.

Friday 2:00 p.m. eastern
Hike 2 miles around Rhododendron lined Byrd Lake. Meet Sally Gilbert at the boat dock to begin this hike. If you like, bring your kayak to paddle this lovely little lake. Othe trails are available.

Saturday 9:00 a.m.
Hike from Hwy 68 Brady Mountain Trailhead ( take a side trail to Windless Cave) to Black Mountain for spectacular views, to beautiful Ozone Falls. This 10.5 mile strenuous hike requires a shuttle. Please meet Sally Gilbert at the Visitor Center parking lot promptly at 9:00 a.m.

Saturday night Dinner at the cabin following the hike. Bring your best dish to share!

Sunday 9:00 a.m.
Hike Brady Mountain. This will be a 8-mile in/out hike from Hwy 68 to Wilson Point and back. Or make it a 12-mile hike if you continue to Jewett Rd and back. Meet Sally in the Visitor Center parking lot promptly at 9:00 a.m.

Camping at Cumberland Mountain State Park. you need to reserve your own campsite soon. I have Area 1, Site 8 reserved. I also have a 3 BR cabin, let me know own if you are interested in that. We can have meals there if the weather is bad. https://tnstateparks.com/parks/cumberland-mountain
