What we’re about
The Barony of Caerthe is the Denver, Colorado chapter of the Society for Creative Anachronism (SCA), a non-profit educational organization devoted to the study of pre-seventeenth century culture. The SCA is devoted to the research and recreation of pre-17th Century skills, arts, combat, culture, and employing knowledge of world history to enrich the lives of participants through events, demonstrations, and other education presentations and activities.
Unlike a Renaissance Faire, the SCA is participatory - no one is simply a spectator. All participants play a part by creating the atmosphere by reenacting whatever aspects of the time period interest them the most.
While dressed in clothing of the Middle Ages and Renaissance, you can experience tournaments, royal courts, feasts and dancing. You also have the opportunity to learn and practice ancient arts and skills - calligraphy, cooking, armoring, metalworking, carpentry, and needlework (to name just a few_ - within an all-ages social group.
Many Society activities are free to try or have small fees for materials or admission.
