Sunset Hike on Nose Hill

One of my favourite things to do during autumn is to go on an easy late afternoon hike on Nose Hill and time my return for the sunset. Nose Hill Park is a natural park located in northwest Calgary with several hiking trails, aspen groves and coulees, native grassland, and stunning views of the downtown and the Rocky Mountains. We may even spot some white-tailed deer, coyotes, and porcupines!

From approximately the middle section of the hill, we'll start our slow and steady climb to the top and then head toward the east end for an awesome view of the city skyline - will mingle around there for a bit. We'll then time our westward return as the sun begins to set, casting the most gorgeous warm glow on the surrounding fall foliage and hillside. (I had a difficult time selecting which photo I wanted to post from my collection as I have SO many beautiful ones to choose from!) Of course, I can't guarantee a beautiful sunset since it's weather-pending, so we'll just have to cross our fingers for a "perfect day"! But even if it's an overcast day, it's still a lovely little hike.) :-)

We'll get back to the parking lot by around 6:30p'ish. Those interested may then make the 5 minute drive over to Jameson's Pub next to Brentwood Mall for some bites, brews, and more socializing.

- Free parking lot at intersection of John Laurie Boulevard & Brisbois Drive
(Parking may be limited so carpool if you can. If no parking is available, park somewhere on the other side of Brisbois Drive.)
- Portable washroom at the parking lot

SOME CONSIDERATIONS:
- This event is weather-pending and will be cancelled if it's raining or snowing.
- Dress in comfortable layers, wear appropriate hiking shoes/boots, and bring a water bottle.
- Feel free to bring your well-behaved pooch, always kept on leash.
- We will wait for ~10 minutes before we hit the trail (4:40p) in case the parking lot is full when you arrive and will need to find nearby parking.

- As the event date approaches and you find out later you can no longer attend, please revisit this Meetup page and change your RSVP to Not Attending.
- "No Shows" (those that sign up but then don't show up) will be noted.
- If you are running late or otherwise need to contact the event organizer, please post a message in the Comments below.
- If you are feeling ill, please do not attempt to participate. Stay home and get better.
