See all- Saturday walk, Bow Valley Ranch SW, Fish Creek Park15979 Bow Bottom Trail SE, Calgary, AB
Enjoy exploring Bow Valley Ranch in Fish Creek Park next Saturday (April 27). Wear good footwear to walk 6.5 kms on varied terrain (not just on paved pathways) for 1.5 - 2 hours. The Burns Family owned the ranch for four generations and it is a crown jewel in Fish Creek Provincial Park.

At 1 pm, meet at the red barn across from the parking lot in Bow Valley Ranch (15979 Bow Bottom Trail SE)
Directions: Take Bow Bottom Trail south past the 146 Ave SE intersection until it narrows to one lane. At the sign for Annie's on your right, turn right. You will see the wood sign shown in the photo above. Drive past it and park. The red barn is across from the parking lot.What to bring/wear
- Water to drink
- Good walking shoes or hiking boots
- Jacket with layers of clothes underneath
- Gloves depending on the weather
- Sun hat or winter hat, depending on the weather
- Ski poles or a walking stick (optional but helps avoid slips and falls)
- Bear spray and first-aid kit (if possible)

Walk for an hour on Sunday (April 28) at 11 am behind Signal Hill Centre to reach Battalion Park where hundreds of soldiers hauled 16,000 stones in 1915 to build the massive numbers shown above. This is a loop on paved surfaces into a community with splendid views of the mountains and two shopping districts: Signal Hill Centre and Westhills Town Centre.
At 11 am meet at the bench in front of the Winners store in Signal Hill Centre. The storefront is outdoors at next to Dollarama and Indigo Books.

- Driving directions: Reach Signal Hill Centre from Sarcee Trail heading either north and south. On Sarcee Trail, take the Richmond Road West exit. Next, turn right from Richmond Road into Signal Hill Centre where Winners is located against the hill with the massive numbers as shown in the photo above.

- After-work walk (6 pm) in Votier's Flats SW13511 Elbow Dr SW, Calgary, AB
Join us after work at 6 pm on Thursday, May 2, to explore paved and perhaps non-paved pathways in Votier's Flats, located at the southernmost end of Elbow Drive SW. Walk for 90-minutes. The sun will set at 9 pm thanks to more daylight. Friendly dogs on a leash are welcome.
At 6 pm meet by the public washrooms across from the parking lot
- Address: 13511 Elbow Drive SW, Calgary. Drive as far south as you can go on Elbow Drive until the road ends in the parking lot for Votier's Flats. On the way there, you will pass Candle Court SW and a gas station on Elbow Drive just before entering the park.
