2025 Middleburg Oktoberfest Corgi Races - External Registration Required

All racers should have an email with heat and race time info as of today. If for whatever reason you cannot race please let us know so that we can try to fill the spot with a capital corgi member quickly.

What to Bring:
Corgi Dog(s) – Please make sure your dog is freshly watered, pottied & in a good mood. Please only enter your dog if he/she is full corgi.
Lure – Your dog’s favorite toy, treat or human. Please do not use a dog as a lure to avoid crowding & to keep the finish line safe.
Release Form –Form must be submitted via e-mail by 9/1. The first 16 eligible dogs will be accepted and placed into the roster. Dogs will not be allowed to race without a signed form on file.
Travel Bowl & Water – Your dog will be thirsty after the race.
Collar or Harness & Leash – All dogs are to be on a leash & under your control prior to & immediately following the race to ensure safety.
Waste Bags – It’s always best to be prepared!
Details:
Heats – Multiple heats will be run in the race. The winner of each heat will advance to the next round until the grand prize winner is determined.
Course – The race course will be approximately 30’ long and 10‘ wide. One handler will release the racing dog on command at the start of the race and a second handler will lure/encourage and capture the dog at the finish line.
Fellow Racers – Just like at a dog park or any other public area where dogs meet, there will not be a vaccination confirmation or spay/neuter requirements. If your dog has special needs (ie. In heat, showing signs of illness, etc.) please make the responsible decision.
Don’ts – The handlers will be set up 3’ from the finish line so the winner can be clearly determined. While arm reaching & waving is expected, we ask that you do not step over the handler’s line.
Emergencies – Dr. Susan Cooke of Vet Wagon is our “Official Corgi Race Veterinarian” for the races should any veterinary emergencies arise.
