What We’re About

Purpose
Silent Book Club Olde Carlsbad is the book club for introverts! Hosted by Aber Stoat Books, we bring local readers together to enjoy the social atmosphere of a book club without the homework, assigned reading, or forced group discussions. We gather once a month for cozy, dedicated silent reading, supporting our local Carlsbad spots together.

Who Should Join
Introverts, avid readers, casual book lovers, and anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing morning dedicated to reading in the company of fellow bibliophiles. Open to the public—all genres, formats (physical books, e-readers, audiobooks), and reading speeds are welcome!

Why Join
Unlike traditional book clubs, there are no assigned books, no deadlines, and no pressure to speak up. You bring whatever you're currently reading. It’s all about reserving quality time for yourself to get lost in a story alongside a friendly, quiet community.

Typical Meeting Schedule
We meet on the last Friday of every month from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

• 10:00 AM – 10:30 AM | Arrive & Settle In: Grab a drink or bite to eat, meet in the designated group area, make chit-chat, and share what you're reading (if you like!).
• 10:30 AM – 11:30 AM | Quiet Reading Hour: One full hour of uninterrupted silent reading.
• 11:30 AM – 12:00 PM | Optional Socializing: Chat about books and life, restock on food/drinks, or keep reading!

Meeting Locations (Seasonal Rotation):

• Off-Season Location (September–April): Baba Coffee (2727 State St, Carlsbad)
• Summer Location (May–August): Carlsbad City Library (1775 Dove Ln, Carlsbad)

Good to Know:

• Cost: Free to attend! However, when meeting at local businesses, we ask that you purchase a beverage or snack to support the venue hosting us.
• What to Bring: B.Y.O. Book (physical book, Kindle/e-reader, or audiobook with headphones), whatever your heart desires.
