About us

The Contra Costa Mineral & Gem Society, a local non-profit for over 75 years, promotes interest and education in the earth sciences including geology, minerology, paleontology, lapidary arts and related fields. We promote the right of amateur hobby collecting, recreational prospecting and the use of public lands for educational and recreational purposes related to the earth sciences. Outings and field trips may require membership (only $20/yr.). Club educational meetings are on the second Monday of each month at 7pm and are open to everyone. More details are on the website.
