What we’re about
If you love to walk and meet people outside of the usual places, this group is for you. It's open to everyone of all ages. (It's not a hiking group -- we won't be climbing anything -- though hikers are welcome.) 😊
We'll visit some of the best spots, including safe trails, in Kennebec and Somerset counties. If the group grows, we can schedule visits farther away.
• Walks will average 2-4 miles.
• Lunch or dinner (including takeout, picnics, etc.) or visiting a nearby local event is an option after the walk.
• Meetings will last a few hours and take place mostly on weekends and occasional weekdays, like Fridays, at least twice a month.
It's a chance to get out more and meet new people while you enjoy a favorite pastime.
Thanks, and I look forward to meeting you and walking with you sometime.
Event cancellations/rescheduling: If there will be a major wind or rainstorm or it will be hot and humid without a breeze (80 degrees Fahrenheit or above), the event will be cancelled and rescheduled. I'll try to give at least 48 hours' notice.

Peter Garrett Trail Stroll (former East Kennebec) - Winslow
Rotary Centennial/Peter Garrett Trail Trailhead, 65 Kennebec Trl Rd, Winslow, ME, USThis trail, opposite the popular Winslow-Benton side of the Rotary Centennial Trail, offers its own unique views of the Kennebec River and nearby shoreline.
Not to be confused with the Rotary Trail, the Garrett Trail features an artificial wetland and picnic area near the Kennebec River shoreline. The native flora and fauna along this trail include blackberries and ferns.
We'll take the main route, which starts from the dirt parking lot between this trail and the Rotary trail, up to the paved Central Maine Power area and before the former Scott Paper Mill; on the way back, we can try the marked trail routes on either side of the trail.
Length: 45 minutes to an hour, depending on our pace and the route(s).
Where we'll meet: At 65 Kennebec Trail Road, in the dirt parking lot between the two trails, near the sign at the start of the trail to the left of the wetland and picnic tables.
If you use GPS, set it for "Rotary Centennial/Peter Garrett Trail Trailhead." Off of Benton Ave., a white sign on a fence denotes the trail area, which leads to a dirt road that leads down to the parking area.3 attendees
