This group is for fans of Japanese anime, manga, and media. We gather to discuss our favorite shows, share recommendations, and more.

We hope it provides a safe space for people who like all things anime, including cosplay, gaming, and geek culture. With this group, you can expect events like conventions, films at local theaters, seasonal anime screenings, arcade nights, and more!

Volunteer w/ Common Pantry (North Center)
Common Pantry, 3908 N Lincoln Ave., Chicago, IL, USmeetup for chicago anime hangouts! hope to have conversations about anime, and manga and more. just show up :D just note that this is an event focused around volunteering, and helping people, so be prepared to learn more about the non-profit we're working with in addition to the socializing aspect, and getting a meal or dessert afterwards.
the main activity will be distribution, to give a heads up.
Common Pantry, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit food pantry, was founded in 1967 to combat hunger and food insecurity in specific northern neighborhoods of Chicago.
All volunteers are asked to wear comfortable clothing you can move in, closed toed shoes, and to have their hair pulled back.

Headquarters Beercade - River North, 213 West Institute Place, Chicago, IL, USHello old & new friends! We like to unwind on the last Friday of each month to do some chillmaxing (whatever that means) @ Headquarters Beercade!
This is a casual hangout event to talk with folks about this & that, while at a big cool bar that lets you play arcade games for free. Even if you're not a super big anime nerd, feel free to connect w/ folks on any of your hobbies, interests, & experiences!
About Headquarters Beercade:
• A funky arcade bar with loads of throwback video games & films, plus creative craft beers, cocktails, & food.
• Bar Reminder: You will need to bring & show your ID to staff in order to enter even if you don't plan on drinking.
• From HQ Staff: Please use the coat racks instead of leaving jackets lying around, & don't use the larger tables unless you intend to order drinks/food.Schedule:
• 7:00pm: Get your butt over to Headquarters Beercade (don't forget your ID!)
• Post-Event: Depending on how the group's feeling, we'll typically dip after ~2~3 hours & find a cool local place to eat at (like Griddle 24).

Chinatown Cleanup (Chinatown)

this is put together officially by the Chinatown Chamber of Commerce. you're able to just show up, but the Chamber of Commerce requests you fill out a registration link. they host this on a monthly basis. (under organization you can type in "meetup")
in orientation, they break the groups into about 7 smaller groups. they talk about it in mandarin/canto but I'm able to translate.
schedule:
9:00: get trained to pick up trash in the Chinatown area.
post-meetup: open to grab a light meal, or grab boba/dessert nearby.
