Chilled Out Meetups is one of Leeds biggest groups organising social events for 18 to 38 year olds. First time here? See information for new members by clicking this link.
Our events include an organised walk every other week (over summer), coffee and drinks socials, women-only events and one off visits to destinations in Leeds and sometimes further out. We also run 'one off' events from time to time, and hope to add more types of activities in future.
Are you in charge of a venue or other potential event destination? We'd love to hear from you about working together to put on a Meetup. In return for a space, we can offer a large group of new customers and potentially repeat business in the form of one our regular events. Feel free to send us a message.
ORGANISERS WANTED - Our group is co-owned equally by its organisers. Most decisions are made by organizers giving unanimous approval. If you're interested in running events let us know, no matter what type of event you want to do - remember as an organiser you decide the time, place and activity.
We are fully committed to everyone feeling safe and secure at events so there will be zero tolerance for any harassment, unwanted attention or any other disrespectful behavior. This is a space without any kind of prejudice including racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia etc. and this includes 'jokes' and 'memes', please take it elsewhere. We may organise women-only events - if this is a problem then this isn't the right group for you.
You can make a donation to the group here.
If you treat others with kindness and use some common sense you should get along fine here, but if you'd like to check our rules you can see them here.
Our financials are kept open for public viewing. You can see the ledger here.
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Women Only Diner (Trinity Kitchen)Trinity Shopping Mall-Trinity Leeds Albion Street Leeds LS1 5AT, Leeds
Women only social at the legendary Trinity Kitchen with a wide variety of food and drinks available.
About the venue
Trinity Kitchen is a trendy 'food court' within the Trinity Leeds shopping centre with a wide variety of food outlets and temporary food vans. Since all the seating area is shared, attendees can choose to get food from anywhere, or just get a drink if you'd prefer. You can see available options here. Pizzaluxe has a full bar with all types of drinks available.
Getting here
Trinity Leeds is in the city centre, a short walk from the train and bus stations. There is limited street parking available, however the shopping centre has a multistorey car park and there are other car parks nearby. Expect to pay around £3 an hour for parking. These tend to have a lot of free spaces on a Saturday.
Afterwards
We have a mixed event downstairs starting at hot chocolate shop Knoops directly after this event. Join us for a sweet treat.
- Saturday Afternoon KnoopsKnoops, Leeds
This event was popular last year so lets do it again. Knoops has a limited seating area, so after getting our drinks we'll head to City Square a short walk away, or if the weather is not good we'll go up to the large seating area at Trinity Kitchen.
At Knoops you select one of the many chocolate options from the menu - which vary from very sweet milk chocolate to high % dark chocolate - then combine it with your selection of milk and toppings. Iced chocolate drinks are also available and if you're really not into chocolate you can get coffee / tea instead.
You can see more info about Knoops here.
There is a seating area in the basement of Knoops. If this can't accommodate our group after buying drinks we'll move over to the benches at City Square if the weather is nice, or if the weather isn't we'll go up to Trinity Kitchen where there's plenty of seating and also a variety of food options if you want to get something to eat.
- Walk, Museum & Coffee (Abbey House Museum)Leeds City Square, Leeds
We're doing another one of these, this time heading to Abbey House Museum - a place for all things Victorian.
We'll meet in City Square as normal then do a walk up to Abbey House Museum to take a trip back to the 1800s. This attraction has a faux Victorian street plus many galleries with antiques of this era, especially old school toys and games. Afterwards we'll either head to the museum cafe for a drink and chat, or if the weather is nice enough, hang out in the adjacent grounds of Kirkstall Abbey.
Approximate schedule:
11:45 - Meet at City Square (under the horse statue)
12:00 - Walk along the canal
13:30 - Museum visit
15:00 - Cafe / Kirkstall AbbeyThis is a paid for attraction. Standard entry is £7.15 however I'm hoping to get a group discount, watch this space. There are additional concessions and free entry if you meet certain criteria, you can see the details here (scroll down to click on Admission prices to see details).
.........................................................................Can I join the group at the museum instead?
Yes that's OK.
Getting here (City Centre)
City Square is right next to the train station and near to all bus connections heading in and out of Leeds. If arriving by car, there are plenty of spaces in the various multi-storey car parks nearby, but keep in mind it usually costs £2/3 per hour. Please set off in plenty of time since we cant wait too long for latecomers - better to get there early and grab a coffee than late and miss the group.
Getting here (Museum)
The museum is directly on A65 / Kirkstall Road with busses every few minutes heading in and out of Leeds, as well as some services to other nearby postcodes. Use an app like Google Maps or Moovit to see bus stops and times.
Kirkstall Abbey Car Park is next to the museum. This used to be free, but the council is introducing charges to more car parks so bring a phone and card to pay if necessary. This car park might get very busy on sunny days, so leave extra time to park, if there aren't spaces then there are residential streets nearby where you can park for free.
Walk information
The walk is around 4 miles. This is all on hard ground and on the flat, so your everyday clothes should be OK, just dress for the weather conditions.
Bad weather
If heavy rain is forecast this event WILL go ahead but we will meet at museum instead. If light rain is forecast the walk will go ahead anyway, just bring weatherproofs. Please check back here for updates. If you have concerns about weather conditions message the host directly rather than posting about it in the comments/chat.
