Whether you’re a seasoned player or just mah-curious, this group is a welcoming space to enjoy traditional Chinese mahjong in a relaxed, social setting. We’re building a community around the game: one that values culture, strategy, and good company.

FYI: This group is VERY beginner friendly. We play many variations that include chicken hands, no chicken hands and are adding in scoring.

Mahjong & Mooncakes: Mid-Autumn Festival Celebration
Panera Bread Wilmette, 1199 Wilmette Ave, Wilmette, IL, USIt's the Moon /Mooncake/Mid-Autumn Festival on Friday September 25 this year!
To celebrate the Chinese harvest holiday, I am making snow skin mooncakes as a sweet treat for participants of this mahjong club meeting! Play will work the same, 6-6:30pm will be food/socialization and 6:30pm is when game play will start.
What are snow skin mooncakes? They are a sweet mooncake made with glutinous rice skin and originated from Hong Kong. Here is more information about them: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Snow_skin_mooncake
Everyone will get 2 mooncakes each. I will have 2 different fillings, custard and red bean. If you are curious about the ingredients, look at the dietary form.
Since I am going to be making these from scratch, I will require a few steps to confirm your spot! All steps need to be completed to have a spot!
- Complete your RSVP by Tuesday September 15. This includes the following 3 steps:
- RSVP to the meetup event. There are limited seats! I will review and update your meetup event RSVP by Thursday September 20 to indicate if you have locked in your spot.
- $1 deposit at meetup event RSVP to hold your spot.
- If you are RSVPed and come to the event, you will be refunded $1. If you RSVP and do not come, you will not be refunded.
- If you cannot pay through Paypal, please message me and we will figure out a way. Timing of message will be considered for those who sign up on if they get a spot or not.
- If you put in a deposit but do not get a spot due to capacity being reached, you will be refunded by Thursday September 20.

- I will not be able to accommodate late RSVPs because of the prep work that the mooncakes take.
- Priority will be given to active members who have been regularly attending previous meetings.
- No plus ones for RSVPing, if you have a special case, please reach out to via message and we will evaluate it on a case by case basis.
