Code in Color: The Cost of Code Switching

For this Code in Color presentation series, our speakers will share their experiences with code switching, silencing their inner critics, and the burden of maintaining multiple identities in the workplace.

Featured Speakers:

Eunice Brackett (Software Engineer, Adobe). With a background in the health sciences and having worked at World Health Organization setting Global Nutrition Policy, Eunice transitioned to tech after a life changing event. It took grit and perseverance to make it through Software Engineering training and subsequently getting an offer at Adobe Systems Inc. Her talk will encompass how to quiet that inner critic to achieving your dreams.

Jason Jones (Software Engineer, Lead Virtual Instructor, and Alum of The Last Mile) is an experienced web developer and passionate about working with system impacted youth that come from disadvantaged backgrounds. He volunteers at McClymonds High School in West Oakland teaching computer coding. He is determined to create systemic change for those who share his lived experiences, and is hopeful that in doing so it will change the world. #createChange

Amber Sharma (Technical Program Manager, Cryptex.AI). Coming from a long career in finance, Amber Sharma is a recent software engineer who is also working as a program manager at a startup. Her talk is on personal evolution and on finding direction.
