Learn to Code, Free - Session One
Learn the basics of web development, including HTML, CSS, and JavaScript with CodeSLO. This is the first of a six-class series, the first we've ever held in North County. In this class, you'll learn from professional software engineers, hear from local industry leaders, and learn about opportunities (many of them free or low cost) to local residents looking to start a career in technology. Students will need a laptop. Windows, Mac or Linux laptops are preferred but students with a Chromebook can still participate. Tablets won't work for this class and are not supported. By the end of the last class, students should understand the foundational techniques of web development and have knowledge of the resources available to them for pursuing a deeper skillset in coding. RSVP early! Class size is limited to thirty. Make sure you register for ALL SIX sessions!

What we're about

CodeSLO is on a mission to teach the Central Coast to code. We work in partnership with local tech companies and educational organizations to offer classes in software engineering. We specialize in teaching beginners. All you need to get started is a laptop!

CodeSLO was founded in 2014 by Matt West, a professional software engineer. Our pool of mentors has included developers from SoCreate, MINDBODY, the County of San Luis Obispo, and many other organizations.

We've worked closely with the San Luis Obispo County Office of Education, the Ticket Into Tech program, and Cal Poly's WISH organization to offer classes for youth and adults. Many of our students have gone on to careers in software development.

CodeSLO offers a wide variety of free and low-cost classes for the community and we work with local schools as well. If you're a local educator and you'd be interested in having CodeSLO offer classes for your organization, please be sure to contact us via Meetup.
