• Cal Poly Coding Bootcamp Information Session, North County

    Atascadero Chamber of Commerce

In 2019, Cal Poly Extended Education will be launching a coding bootcamp to train future software engineers. This course is the result of an unprecedented partnership between Cal Poly, Fullstack Academy, CodeSLO, and the SLOCOE. If you’re not ready to commit to a full bootcamp program, or want to make sure coding is for you before jumping right in, CodeSLO can help. Working in partnership with this new Cal Poly Coding Bootcamp, CodeSLO has put together a six-week intro class that will run Monday-Thursday evenings from February 4th to March 16th. This class will give you a feel for programming and get you ready for coding bootcamp—if you decide it’s for you. For pure beginners, CodeSLO is even offering a one-week super-basic course beginning January 28th. Are you interested in a career in software? Do you have questions about CodeSLO’s one-week or six-week classes? This information session is your opportunity to learn more! RSVP below and come take your first step into a very exciting 2019. • Programming for Absolute Beginners

    Needs a location

    $99.00

NOTE: This course is part of a much longer curriculum offered in partnership with Fullstack Academy, Ticket into Tech, and the Cal Poly Extension program. The full curriculum will train students to be professional-level software developers using web technologies including HTML and JavaScript. This course is for those brand-new to programming and does NOT require a commitment to the full program. Are you interested in a career in software but you don't have a background in code or computer science? This course is for you! Over four evenings you will learn from professional software developers in a class that covers the foundational skills of software development, including using your computers command line and file system, how to translate real-world problems into code, and some of the basic syntax of the JavaScript programming language. You'll also learn how to set up a professional quality development environment on either a Mac or Windows-based PC. If you DO have a background in programming this course may be too basic for you. If you are comfortable using a CLI and creating, moving, and deleting files on your computer and you're written a few functions in any programming language you should consider going directly to our six-week intro-to-code course, which covers HTML, CSS, and JavaScript up to an intermediate level. Please see the link below for more information on that course. This class will be held on four consecutive evenings from 5:30 pm to 7:30 pm beginning on Monday, January 28th. (If you're reading this parenthetical, we don't have the link ready yet. Check back later today!)
